Maker Improvement Proposals

Polls and Votes This read-only category is dedicated to providing more awareness and notification of what is going in terms of voting during the current governance cycle. It will offer a go-to place to find the active Inclusion polls, Governance polls, or Executives Votes that are related to MIPs. Archive RFC The Request for Comments (RFC) status is granted to a MIP when it has been formally approved by a MIP Editor. This phase is when a MIP goes through a formal review period, including feedback from the community, further drafting and additions. The timeline for the RFC phase is defined by its Feedback Period and Frozen Period. In order to move to the next phase, it needs to satisfy the transition criteria listed below: Formal Submission The Formal Submission (FS) status is granted to a MIP when the RFC feedback period has concluded. To get the FS status, MIP Authors must submit their complete MIP(s) to the Governance cycle by posting it to the formal submission forum category within the formal submission window of a governance cycle. A MIP can be re-submitted to the formal submission process a maximum of 2 additional times (3 total), without having to go through phase 1- 4 again, and if it failed to pass due to legitimate external reasons (e.g. got bundled in a governance poll or executive vote with a controversial proposal - subject to the governance facilitators judgement). Proposal Ideas This category is dedicated to Maker Community members who want to discuss their ideas, have pre-proposal discussions, and collaborate on future Maker Improvement Proposals. Collateral Onboarding App This category is dedicated to the process of adding new collateral types to the Maker Protocol. Since Collateral onboarding is a core component of the Protocol, the Maker community requires a structured process for it to go smoothly and efficiently. This is why the Collateral Onboarding MIPs Set was created, to create and define an end-to-end framework for scalable collateral onboarding that interoperates with the community, Governance Cycle and the existing Domain Teams. Conception The lifecycle of a MIP begins when a MIP proposal is posted on the Maker forum and on the MIPs Github repository as a PR on the Conception branch. This is when the Conception status is granted to a MIP. In order for a MIP to move to the next stage, it needs to satisfy the transition criteria described below:
